Comments from students
In October 2004, I was very nervous about travelling by coach to Barcelona with the school so Mrs Morison used the tapping technique on me. I found this helped to calm me down.
Last year before taking my Higher Music performing exam Mrs Morison used her EFT technique to help calm my nerves. I found this to be very helpful.
In October 2004 on a school trip I had travel sickness on the ferry. Mrs Morison tapped me and I immediately felt more calm and less ill.
On the return journey home from a few days away (on the music trip to Barcelona), I was feeling anxious as to how my brother with special needs had coped staying with my Nana. Mrs Morison asked me if I was interested in trying EFT for this (permission had already been given by my parents). After tapping me for a short while I felt relaxed and calm.
I told my Mum about the effects of the EFT and she was also amazed about how it worked and wanted to learn more. So she enrolled in a course. Mum enjoyed the course and frequently uses tapping on me to settle the itch that I get from eczema, and tapping always stops me from scratching. It’s amazing!
When Mrs Morison did tapping on me before my music exam it made me feel more relaxed about doing it. It made me in a way forget why I was worried.
Before my exam, Mrs Morison gave me tapping. After receiving tapping, I felt a lot more confident about my practical exam.
The Tapping that Mrs Morison was doing on me helped me cope with a lot of things like my exam stress, and the loss of someone close to me, which I blamed myself for. The tapping helped relieve the pain and anger and hurt I was keeping locked up inside me for a long time.
I remember waiting for my name to be called to go into the exam. I was very nervous. I had seen another pupil getting tapping and my piano teacher asked if I would like some tapping. I was taken into a room with a teacher and asked to tap different parts of my body whilst saying different things. Afterwards I felt a lot more calm and I believe it helped me do better in the exam.
I personally found the tapping very useful. I remember well, sitting in the waiting room for my first Associated Board music exam. I was extremely nervous as I waited but because of the tapping I was pleased with my performance. After I received tapping I immediately began to calm down which eventually resulted in my receiving a merit for my performance.
I would recommend this method to anyone who feels nervous about something they are going to have to do.
Use of Emotional Freedom Techniques in Craigmount High School, Edinburgh
I asked several students to write down their thoughts on their experiences after I had used Emotional Freedom Techniques, which they know as ‘Tapping.’
When used on students, written parental permission was sought in advance, with the exception of one S4 boy who wanted help for nerves after he saw the effects on another student. He was just about to do his performance exam -- in this case he did the tapping on himself by copying me.
